After a Day at the Trade Fair: How to Wind Down Your Evening in Essen

The fair day was long – now it's time to clock off. From good food in Rüttenscheid to a cosy evening on the sofa: here's how to unwind in Essen.

First, just arrive

A day at the trade fair leaves its mark on your legs: lots of conversations, lots of steps, lots of impressions. All the nicer when the way "home" is short. Self-check-in via keypad lock means you don't have to worry about a thing in the evening – open the door, kick off your shoes, take a deep breath.

Eating out in Essen

If you're in the mood for company, a trip to Rüttenscheid is well worth it: around Rüttenscheider Straße – affectionately called "Rü" by the locals – restaurants, cafés and bars line up one after another, from cosy to upscale. Essen's city centre is also quick to reach from our apartments.

Sometimes the best end to the day is simply this: sofa, quiet, feet up.

Or simply: sofa, Netflix, peace and quiet

Not every evening has to be a big one. All of our apartments have a smart TV with streaming and a sofa that's just waiting for you to sink into it. A quiet evening in your temporary home is often exactly what counts after a full day.

A quick breath of fresh air

If you'd like to clear your head before bed: the Grugapark and many green corners of the Ruhr area are perfect for a short evening stroll. Ten minutes in the fresh air – and you can feel the fair day falling away.
